How Do I Raise the Internal Surface Temperature of a Wall?

A cold internal wall surface causes two problems: discomfort and condensation. When the wall surface temperature falls below the dew point of the room air, moisture condenses onto the wall — leading to damp, mould and pattern staining. Raising the internal surface temperature of the wall above the dew point is the key to preventing this.

You can raise the internal surface temperature of a wall by adding a thermal layer to the wall surface. Traditional rigid insulation boards do this, but they consume significant internal space, require battening and are difficult to fit around irregular surfaces.
